Why should we need music theory books these days?

Yes, music students still need Music Theory Books. Anyone who tells you they don’t really isn’t covering everything with the children. I’m not saying that an instrumental or a classroom teacher who doesn’t use music theory books in their classes is doing a bad job – they are just teaching what they believe is important to the overall musicianship of the child. It is up to us as parents to make sure that our children cover everything that they need to learn, and if necessary they may need extra music tuition outside of school. Certainly they need it on their instrument, but they might also find that they need it with Theory as well – it certainly won’t do them any harm at all as they become more mature musicians.
