Getting The Right Sized Runner Rug

Unlike carpets, a rug should only cover certain parts of the floor and not overwhelm the whole area. As such when getting runner rugs for your hallway, you need to first take the measurements of the hallway. Then, subtract 4 inches from the width of the hallway. So if your hallway is 36 inches wide, you need a runner rug that is about 32 inches in width. This will make sure that you have about 2 inches of space between the runner and the wall of the hallway. The same principle applies to the length. Subtract 22 inches from the length of the hallway so that you will have a nice 11 inches on each end of the rug. This simple rule will help you get a nice sized runner rug that will be framed nicely within the hallway.
